Presentation 2 - Watch this Space

Your second presentation - to a 'representative' from Regeneration - will be shown your first week after study leave (week beginning 9th December).

This presentation is to include the following:
  • A summary of your campaign ideas
  • A recap of your target audience and what it is you are wanting them to do to get involved
  • How your project ideas/audience/focus has changed since the last presentation
  • Your final campaign idea (including names, audience, 2 linked productions, slogan, logo etc)
  • Show progress made so far:
    •  to include poster/leaflet plans,
    • website design (or show us round the website so far)
    • Storyboard for film - or (even better) show us some of your filming so far.
    • Any other production work done (e.g. facebook page etc - you will have FB access as presentation will be done on my laptop)
  • How all the work is suitable/specifically done to suit the target audience
  • Link to the brief
  • What your intended outcome will be

Remember to keep a close focus to the requirements of the brief - you are wanting to get PEOPLE involved with regenerating a local area - and a sharp link to the needs of the target audience.

This presentation is worth 1/3 of your total research mark.

Remember to try to create an engaging, detailed presentation.
No slide to have more than 20 words.
Visuals will be needed to demonstrate your progress.

Classmates will also offer feedback again.

Marking:
I will be marking your presentation on the following things:
  • How well it is linked to the brief.
  • How clear you are regarding target audience
  • Clear understanding of the issue and your research.
  • Good progress with suitable, relevant ideas to the campaign.
  • Presentation style (just reading off the PPT or paper with little engagement will be less successful than eye contact with audience, notes, engaging visuals, clear speech).

  • What are the key issues regarding regeneration?
  • Initial ideas for your project? Location, idea, possible products etc.
  • What you are going to do next.

This is only a basic guidance, you are able to include other aspects. The specification says:

For this presentation, I AM your client.

  • Each slide must have fewer than 20 word on it
  • Images and visual examples are encouraged.
  • EVERY group member MUST speak durning the presentation and contribute to the presentation planning.

The rest of the class will provide feedback via note sheets. These comments must be used to further/continue in your planning.

Poster analysis (task 3 of the research)

Posters in campaigns generally follow certain rules (conventions).

  • Logo/brand name of the campaign group
  • Name of the company supporting/running the campaign
  • Contact details (website address, phone number, text number, email address etc)
  • Slogan
  • Clear (often hard hitting) message
  • Image(s)
These posters will often carefully use colour too to add meaning.

Some campaign posters:

Political campaign.
Use of patriotic colours (red, white and blue) - adds to honourable and working-for-the-country image.
Non- direct mode of address, looking into the distance makes it seem like he is focussed on his hope and vision for the future.
Simple slogan to appeal to those who feel issues in the country are hopeless.

Public health/safety campaign.
Image easily recognisable as scan picture. Target audience of mums-to-be to raise awareness.
Fairly shocking image of baby swigging from bottle to emphasise dangers of drinking when pregnant.
Simple slogan to reinforce message.
Logo/brand of company behind the campaign.
Contact details.

Public awareness campaign.
Use of hard-hitting language to get message across.
Typography (writing font style) highlights the kind words/harsh words. 'Stupid Tart' is blocky to represent the negative-ness of the word and 'Princess' is swirly and 'girly'.
Image mis-en-scene is a typical teenage girl bedroom - to emphasise that this could happen to anyone.
Logo/name of company behind the campaign.
Slogan.
Contact details.

Local area campaign poster.
To encourage the community to join in against the closure of the pub.
Links to facebook and website for further information.
Bold colour scheme to make the  poster eye-catching.
Use of imperatives (Join the campaign now)
Image of the focus of the campaign.

Some useful links to local campaigns and getting involved

  • Raj Gill – Baldock campaign – what could go there instead? Ex-student (19) so could appeal to younger audiences.
